How We Got Here

“Emma’s Eats” started during the summer of 2020. We were trying to figure out fun ways to keep the kids entertained as we stayed at home. (Fun Fact: Emma’s first few videos were made with and at Grandpa’s house!) Emma’s love of cooking and wanting to share her experiences has grown over the last few years. We usually would do videos together for the holidays, more specifically: Thanksgiving. One year she was hilarious as she added pepper for a minute straight as I went to throw something in the trash can outside. Another year she took stuffing and buttering the turkey very seriously. Cooking with her is fun, sweet, and always leaves me proud and smiling.

Not all of our results will be masterpieces. Some will be a one-time attempt to recreate something, other recipes will be just for fun. With that said, you better believe that we will definitely have some successes too! My goal as her mother with all of this is to encourage her passions, support her, and simply spend this time together in the kitchen. She is the sweetest soul and the conversations we have, the expressions she gives – I am so excited to get those on camera. Of course, there will be cameos from her awesome siblings and daddy.

What I hope others take from this is even when there is “nothing to do” or money is tight, fun can still be had and memories can still be created with something as simple as making dinner or a snack – even if it doesn’t go exactly as planned. We’re a family, just trying to create and cherish quality time together. Life is short and time goes so fast – I want to soak up every second I can with them. I hope even one video inspires other parents, or people with loved ones, to find the thing that helps them connect the most. If you get a tasty recipe out of it, let’s call that a bonus!
